OVERVIEW
Fuzzy Wuzzy Memorial School provides Smart Coaching as an outreach program. Smart Coaching is a wholly national owned Education Enhancement Program based in the National Capital (Port Moresby). The program initiated in 2016 and provides a list of Education Enhancement Service which include:

SMART COACHING PROGRAM
VISION
To enhance quality of life amongst children and youths through specific designed education support services.
MISSION
To establish and co-ordinate a balanced aspect of life via Integral Human Development of our Children and Youths irrespective of Gender, Ethnic and Family Background through Education Services.
FOUNDER AND COORDINATOR

Smart Coaching is coordinated by Mrs Maria Meme Talalau a former Teacher of more than Twenty (20) Years Industry in the Rural Papua New Guinea Schools complemented with four (4) years in the National Capital District engaged by A Catholic Special Rehabilitation Education Institute for Juvenile Justice as a volunteer teaching marginalized youths, disadvantage children and Persons Living With Disabilities. Some eight (8) years in Private International Schools She also coordinates and facilitate private program called “Smart Coaching Programs “
TARGET GROUPSOur Smart Coaching Program Targets School Aged Children and Youths who have specific academic areas that require attention and assistance.
We target children who:

- Were Involved in drugs and alcohol, cult practices and petty criminal activities
- Were Living with any form of abuse, negligence and violence
- Have Low literacy levels
- Are from poor family background with low wages or unemployed parents
- Find difficulty in school work and need extra attention and tutorials
- Have other special needs for attention and counseling
- Faces challenge because not a family member has succeeded in their education pathway
- Are now living with single parent through divorce, death or parent in exile (prison)
- Parent is living with disability physically or mentally
Youths who:
- Have not completed school because of violence, abuse, negligence, school fees, drugs and alcohol
MANAGEMENTOur Program Management under the leadership of Maria Meme Talalau consists of six (6) local public and private educationists who thrive in initiating policy/reform complementing infinitives for the benefit of the greater community.
Our Team also specializes in program scoping and logistic deigning. Consultation in Education Sector at the most our Elementary, Primary and Secondary for that matter. We have tailored our program to reach out to life skills training and others should there be a need wherever we are conducting our programs which ensures a equal participation of service where available to larger group of people in the communities. |

SUPPORT STAFF
We have one (1) handy staff who does all other runs for the program including typing, photographing etc. Other than the support staff we are all a helping hand when it comes to workload. The A TEAM!!
OUR PROGRAMS
Smart Coaching Program basically complements the role of existing school teachers by providing enhancement and remedial program to assist and motivate learning to boost current curriculum. After the much talked about failing curriculum.
We encourage participating students to appreciate the coaching program and take it as a as a challenge to work extra harder for promising results. The birth of Smart Coaching Program is the fruit of increased student drop out in grade eight (8) as a result of unsolved negative issues in faced by teachers and students in their schools particularly in urban settings.
There are many young children leaving school at a very early and immature age which is about 12-15 years. The increased number of this group of citizens are building an army of negative influences for Papua New Guinea. It is for sure a task that is far too big to solve but the best we can do is a little of what we can do.

Smart Coaching is an outreach program for Fuzzy Wuzzy Memorial School. We have also other sister programs that are integrated with our program for the benefit of helping our communities.
In 2016, and 2017 during my volunteer service with SOCAY-Safe Our Children and Youth I have conducted this coaching program with the Flexible Open Distance Education – Students from SOCAY who took up this second chance pathway of education and the program helped many of the students. |
The program is conducted during school holidays and students register to attend. It is a non-profitable organisation because much of what we offer is basically service for a very low cost or nothing at all. The programs are run as optional 3 times in a year during school holidays that is in April, July and September.
Some of our success stories will be delivered to on our Facebook wall for viewing. So far the program has reached out to more than 200 students of which many have come and attended free because they had difficulties in paying.
